Prins Thomas | Prince Of Norway

I had the pleasure of spending some time with royalty last week on my travels through the North Pole region. If you don’t already know, Thomas has a new record out, self titled, and its incredible. I now have it on wax ( for my son’s growing collection ) but i also downloaded it on the tour bus while i crossed the German border onto Belgium. The soldier-less forest was a perfect window setting for the epic journey. I couldn’t help but think, while i was listening to this record, that it will be one of ” those ” records dug up by kids in the future around the same time they discover cult bands like Neu. It chugs away into the centre of your mind only to release beautiful chordal movements and fringe delay pieces that join the tracks together. Its so important i feel. A record made for the right reasons, ultimately by the sounds of it, for him and his family. In a time when disco is quite homogenised it’s so refreshing to hear a founder of the cosmic movement reveal what its really all about….. “good ideas”. No frills all thrills do your self a flavour.

The Swimmers

Good friends and all round legends Mo & Dave from The Glimmers invited us into their studio in Ghent last night; we had a blast. The project between The Swiss and Glimmers is now formerly known as The Swimmers. The Glimmers have a history as long as your arm and have been extremely important in the history of disco particularly over the past 15 years. Founders of labels, club nights and champions of the vinyl format, these guys continue to push forward with there new release out on Gomma later this year. Here’s the remix of Bubble Bath they knocked up recently. Stay tuned for Drunken Disco heat!

Behind The Fold

Not many people allow themselves the extent of their full complexity. This is seen through-out most of us. It can be extremely fascinating when art and science fuse to create an insight into discovering that complexity.

Behind The Fold is a wonderful look at Origami and its application as a legitimate art form and science. The documentary walks you through an Israeli classroom teaching it too children to introduce geometry, it gives you a glimpse into the future of medicine, space and design. I love the French renegade folders in this doco and the idea of making your own paper for you to fold and make into something you could hang above your bed…..?? it’s appealing to me.

You Move The Way I Like

Our Brisbane based friend Youth has put together a new track which we at Adult Arts Club HQ think is pretty choice. It kind of has an In Flagranti cut up electro style  mixed with camp 90s house – if you have any comprehension of quality you know this is  an irresistible combination.

Arthur’s Landing

On our short but eventful stay in New York Last month we caught up with a few New York legends like Tim Sweeney, Jacques Renault and among them the Mr Brennan Green who was head deep in Chinatowns new release of Arthur’s Landing ( Arthur Russells original band mates ). We had a hit with him in the studio in Brooklyn where he showed us all the material. Fair to say i think the next release on Chinatown is gonna blow. Here’s them doing some freaky shit in a club with Nomi from Hercules & Love Affair.

Driller Jet Armstrong

Driller Jet Armstrong is one of this country’s founding disco kings. For decades he has championed a classic and contemporary disco sound. As a celebrated Daubist he has used his vantage point in the art community to build a reputation as a forward thinking operator in one of Australia’s premium bars Sugar Nightclub. I fondly remember being granted some sort of diplomatic immunity at the club as a young 20 year old and sharpened my axe in what i use to call the Church. It has been here, Sugar , where legends like Nicky Siano, Theo Parish, Brennan Green and close to every major disco/ house/techno Dj on the planet have received a true taste of what Australia has to offer ( more than roo’s and koala’s ).

Driller is a formidable Dj himself mixing, like a demon, everything from obtuse classics to super new releases, edits and test pressings. Later this year i think we may see Driller join the world circuit where i have every intention of joining him on his quest to bring the party to every major city on the planet.

To celebrate Driller becoming a contributor to the Adult Arts Club Blog We have a great series of mix’s to be podcast…… Ladies & Gents……. Mr Driller Jet Armstrong.

Heat | Sombrero Galaxy

The debut release from Lovefingers’ label ESP Institute has landed and its a killer. Sombrero Galaxy, a collaboration from Jonny Nash (Discosession) and Tako take us on a journey with their release Journey To The Centre Of The Sun. The A side combines swirling guitars and synthesizers assisted by live percussion while the B side gets a rework by the Stallions (Lovefingers and Lee Douglas) adding a driving house feel. Recommended by all at the club.
